The project comprises the interior expansion of a loft in Zurich West, starting from the shell construction. A single space for cooking, dining, living, sleeping, and bathing. The task was to develop a room of 120 m² including two separate wet rooms. Equipped on the southeast side with a floor-to-ceiling window front, all other walls and the ceiling materialized in exposed concrete. Clear zones are created for different uses with the help of dark inlays in the light oak parquet. Precisely placed and fixed built-in furniture emphasizes the clear zoning. Except for the kitchen, they are detached from the concrete wall and ceiling and are accessible from all sides.
A multitude of tense views and perspectives emerge through the interplay between the finely joined wooden elements and the stark concrete. In the sleeping area, the furniture, arranged tangentially, shifts completely between the concrete and the viewer, thus creating a warm, protective atmosphere.
